Iwasa, eigentlich Iwasa Katsumochi Matabei, japanischer Maler, * Itami 1578, ✝ Edo (heute Tokio) 20. 7. 1650; verband Stilelemente der Kanō- und Tosa-Schulen in Themen der klassischen japanischen Malerei, eröffnete aber auch der Genremalerei (Ukiyo-e) neue Aspekte. In der Miniaturmalerei (Fuzokuga) auf Stellschirmen zeichnet er sich durch seine sarkastische Figurendarstellungen aus. Matabei schuf auch die Porträtfolge der »36 Dichter«.
